Questions about foam and gel
Does every Tommot seat include gel?
No. The gel is an optional extra, but it is highly recommended especially if you usually use your bike for more than an hour.
What is the difference between the foam, and the gel seat?
These are two completely different materials. The flexibility of the foam is from the bubbles of air inside it. Therefore if the foam is too thin, it cannot work properly. The gel is a different thing, it doesn’t have air in it, only a special silicone based material. This is the reason why a much thinner layer is enough from it to reach the same comfort. 20mm of gel provides the comfort of 40-50mm thick foam.
If possible, a combination of foam, and gel gives the best comfort.
Will the gel be on the foam?
The gel is not an extra layer on the foam, it is seated in it instead. This way you will not feel the difference between the two materials, and they won’t be able to slip on each other.
Won’t the gel become old after a certain time?
No, because the silicone molecules inside the gel won’t let this happen.
Can the gel spill out of its place?
No, it can’t. It basically is a consistent material, and it will not behave like a liquid.
What will happen to the gel when it gets hot?
Nothing. It can’t melt, and the elasticity of it will stay the same up to 70 degrees Celsius.
Seat heating
I only want seat heating, nothing else. Is it possible?
Yes, it’s possible; but it depends on the shape your seat is in. If it’s old, this could be difficult. We will let you know, if there is any problem with it, before we do anything, so it will be your choice.
If I already have a seat heating system in my seat, is it possible to use it after customizing my seat?
Yes, but this is only possible, if it could be taken out without any damage made in it.
How can you install the seat heater in the wiring of my bike?
You must wire it to a switched positive. If you wire it directly to the battery, it could drain it, if you forget to turn it off.
Where can you put the switch of the seat heater?
You have to install it yourself, we can only give you advice.
Is it possible to wire the seat heater to my motorbike’s wiring?
Yes, our seat heating system is made with the latest technology, so it needs only very little amount of power. (7-14W)
Will the seat heater get place under, or above the gel? Wont it do any damage in the gel?
It will get place above the gel every time. The heater provides 38-40C temperature, and the gel can deal with much higher temperatures without any problem.
Leather questions
Will the material of the seat fade in the sun?
No it won’t, because the materials we use is only the best quality, and it’s made for motorcycle, and yacht use. Therefore it’s UV resistant, water resistant, and acid resistant.
Are you working with waterproof materials?
Yes, every material is waterproof. Even the stitching, and embroidery is water sealed, and the inner foam gets a PU coating, so if some water goes under the leather, there is no way it can reach the inner foam.
What kind of material can you suggest for racetrack riding?
You must choose your material for your riding style. We have anti-slip materials too.
What kind of materials can I choose from?
You have a wide variety of materials to choose from. There are many kinds, due to color, texture, anti-slip, and so on. The materials used by us are water, UV, ad acid resistant, because it has been developed for motorcycle, and sea yacht use. There are about 100 different materials on stock, but if you have any special needs, we can order it for you.
I use my bike alone. Do you produce seat covers as well?
We are not producing plastic seat covers, because we have an even better solution. We have a material, which exactly looks like plastic, therefore we can make a seat for you, that looks almost just like a shiny plastic seat cover, but you can also use it like a seat, if you have to.
Usual questions about the rebuilding process
-We will produce your new seat with the plastic shell of you factory seat, therefore you must bring your old seat to us.
-We will build a complete new foam system from several layers according to your needs, ant ergonomic body structure
-We will place an optional gel layer in your and your passenger’s seat.
-We will place an optional seat heating system to your and your passenger’s seat.
-We will place a waterproof foil o top of the foam.
-We will produce the outfit of your seat from the materials you chose before, according to your design, and style. During this step we will test, and try the coat on the seat several times in order to reach the perfect fit.
-We will now make the optional embroidery.
-We check everything, and get the complete seat ready for shipping it back to you.
Will you make the foam of the seat from the original?
Beside or own special foams, sometimes we need to use some of the original foam too. This is mostly needed if you ask us to lower your seat height. Please note, that in this case we must produce a new outer coat for your seat, because the foam will have a completely different shape.
If you rebuild my seat, then will my center of gravity be different?
This depends on what you ask us to do. If you ask us to lower your riding height, your center of gravity will be lowered too. If you prefer a higher riding position, your center of gravity will be higher as well. If you don’t want any change in this, so you only want a more comfortable, and better looking seat, than it won’t change.
How many centimeters can you lower, or raise my riding height?
This depends on the plastic shell of your seat, and the factory foaming. If the foaming is thick enough to leave about 30-40mm of foam after lowering, than it’s possible to lower your seat. Further lowering is only possible with a gel layer, because the 16m of gel can replace about 35mm of foam. If the seat is too high, it could have a bad effect on the bike’s balance, so maximally 30-40mm of sear hiring is advised.
Can my bike seat look the same, as the factory seat?
Yes. If you don’t have any problems with your seat, it simply got old, and damaged, we can rebuild it for you with even better technology, compared to the factory seat of your bike.
I would like to lower my riding height, will it reduce comfort?
If we will use the optional gel layer, it will not reduce your comfort.
My passenger is pushing me off the bike, because he or she is slipping towards me when I brake. Is there a cure for this?
Of course there is. We can make a „bump” on the back seat that stops the passenger of slipping to the front. We can even modify the angle of the rear seat, this way your passenger will not slip to the front, and you will feel much safer while riding.
I am pleased with my factory seat. Can you modify only the seat of the passenger?
If your bike has two separate seats, we can modify only the rear. This way the look stays the same.
If I want to design the seat myself, can you produce it for me?
Yes, we will do this gladly. Only we must consult before we start to work on it, because it is possible, that not everything will be possible because of technical problems. Consult with us before sending us your seat, because it is possible, that we can give you some good ideals, and advices.
If I only would like a new coat for my seat, is it possible?
Yes, we can do that, but if we open your seat, we will see, what shape is the foam in. If it is advised to replace it, we will let you know, before we do anything. It will be your choice.
Can you fix my damaged seat?
Of course. Our goal is to help any biker, who comes to us.
Is the embroidery for free?
No, it’s an optional extra. The price depends on the size of it.
Can you modify the size of the passenger seat?
Yes, we can. If you have a constant passenger, bring her or him when you place your order, this way we can make a perfect job.
If the stitching brakes, can you fix it?
Normally yes, but it is very rare, that it brakes. The reason is that our stitching material is so strong, that usually the seat material brakes, that it’s holdig on to, and that’s a little more difficult.
Can you build a back rest for my chopper?
Yes.
Cleaning and caring
How can I clean my Tommot seat?
You can wash it with light soap, or shampoo water. Don’t spray it with anything containing silicone oil, because it will became slippery.
Can I wash it with high pressure water?
Yes, but only from at least 100cm. Otherwise the electrical systems under the seat can get damaged.
Questions about deadline, and price
How long does it take to produce a seat?
It takes about 10 days, but it can take up to two weeks depending on your needs, and our factory capacity.
How long do I have to put down my bike for?
Minimally for one, maximally for two weeks. We can discuss the deadline when you place your order. It depends on your needs, and our actual capacity. We strongly recommend, borrowing a seat, while we work on yours.
Can you give me a price, if I know what I would like to ask from you?
We can give you a price, but until we haven’t seen the bike, we cannot be 100% exact. Come to us, maybe we can give you some ideals, you never would think of.
How much does the rebuilding of my bike seat cost?
We can only give you an exact price, if we now your needs, and have seen your seat, but our prices start from 36,000 HUF. If you place an order, you will get a 5,000 HUF voucher as a present for motorbike driving training.
How can I use my 5000Ft Tommot voucher?
Let us know, that you own a voucher, when you place an order. We can accept one voucher for one seat. When your seat is ready, you must give us the voucher, and the price of the seat, minus the amount on the voucher.
Questions about warranty
How much warranty can you give with your seats?
2 years, on every single seat we produce.
What does the warranty stand for?
Everything we do with the seat, and all of the materials we use. The warranty does not stand for the materials, that where originally in the seat (e.g. factory seat heating system, etc…). Furthermore the warranty does not stand for any damage, that is caused by abnormal usage, for example an accident.
Questions about ordering a custom seat

Where do I have to go?

What should I do, if I don’t live in Budapest?
It is highly recommended, to meet by persona t least once, when you place your order. This way you can see, touch, and feel all of the available materials. Furthermore if we see you in person, you can be sure, that we will make the perfectly shaped seat for you.
Do I have to go to your showroom with my bike, or is it enough to take the seat of the bike with me?
If possible, come with your bike, this way we can me measure everything, while you are sitting on your bike.
How can I order my seat?
We need a lot of information. The best is if you can visit us with your bike. If this is not possible, we can discuss the details on the phone, or/and by e-mail.
Questions about our picture gallery
Can I buy one of the seats in the picture gallery?
No, because those are all the seats of our customers. But you can always ask us to produce the same, or similar seat, if you like one of them.
I have not seen a bike like mine in the gallery. Can you make a seat for my bike?
Yes, we can. Our gallery is for reference, and to help our customers to have some ideals about what we can do. We can produce any kind of seat for any kind of bike.
Can I only ask for seats similar to the seats in the gallery?
No. We have the technology to produce any kind of seat, so you can set your imagination free!
